History of Education in Ireland from 1960s:
Government and Public Interest.

Ireland top of the world in education attainined by young peopleThe lecture will trace key developments from ‘free’ education to the present, the link between education and the economy, and discuss key challenges.

Biography:
Dr. Patrick Farren, School of Education, NUIG.

Lecturer in History of Education, and Modern Foreign Language Education at NUIG. Studied at St. Columb’s College, Derry, NUI, Maynooth, Gregorian University Rome, Italy. Has MEd. from the University of Manchester, and PhD. from Trinity College Dublin. He has carried out research at Boston College, MA, and at King’s College London. He has worked in post-primary education in Ireland and in France, and has taught in Spain, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. He has a book in print entitled ‘Transforming Language Teaching and Learning.’

 

The Lecture will take place on 9th October 2017, Harbour Hotel at 8pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
